About transition in the EU

Intransitie.EU has roots in Transition Town Rotterdam and a focus on thinking globally. The EU is a piece of the puzzle. The appropriate slogan here is: Think globally, act locally.

About Intransitie. eu
Intransitie. eu seeks transition within the transition. Intransitie. eu has as objective to be a new kind of ‘Transition Town’. But other global or local ‘movements’, initiatives, individuals or organisations can be just as good in the picture.

Locality is kept high. But thinking globally is therefore not limited to a town, a village or region. It seeks to cooperate wherever possible with Transition Towns and the network and at the same time independence is essential. This independence is needed so that everyone and the ‘think tank’ can express a free framework of thoughts for themselves. An important expression of the think tank is the uwiki.

On transition in power

Because of the financial crisis, the EU is currently negative in the news. The EU has become a machine which citizens hardly can influence, this must change. Intransitie. eu has no biased positions concerning the EU. However, there is a plea that the EU must be more bottom-up organized. Intransitie is such a bottom-up initiative to give an online voice. It may be clear that the current EU is up to an transition, this transition is currently taking place.

There are currently roughly three streams:

1. The EU must reduce its power
2. The EU should make better use of his power by, for example, better control and enforcement
3. The EU must extend his power

Option two seems to dominate in politics by choosing supervisory financial institutions.
